Sima's GoDVD! makes copying between VHS and DVD formats a snap. This single unit will copy DVD to VHS, VHS to DVD and DVD to DVD. Both NTSC and PAL conversions are included for videos recorded or viewed overseas. The GoDVD! digitizes the video signal to reduce sync noise and features 4 output settings to improve image quality. * Easy connection to any DVD recorder * Stabilizes video signals for crisp copies * Digital technology reduces noise in video sync * S-VHS, VHS-C, VHS, 8mm and DVD compatible * 4 output signal enhancement modes- normal, enhanced, darker and black/white * Supports NTSC and PAL formats * Makes perfect copies of any video automatically. TIPS * Some VCRs take a short time to get the tape up to speed which can cause the GoDVD! to improperly detect the color signal in your video. If it happens once in a while, you can simply press the video input select button twice and the problem should be fixed. This lets the GoDVD! synchronize on a good portion of the video signal. From what I can tell, the device is not really much use for improving picture quality of old tapes. Rather, it is mostly for getting around copy protection (for personal use only, of course). When I tried it on some tapes that had no copy protection, the result was worse than doing a straight copy. Installation is so simple that instructions are not necessary. This product eliminated the protected content signal on my copy of The Big Lebowski and I expect that I'll be able to back up all of our old Disney movies to DVD with this as well. I don't like that there is no on/off switch on this thing and the switching between modes could certainly be improved. I'd have given a 5 star rating if this thing had a power switch on it. 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful: Get it while you can, folks!, By Eduardo Nietzsche (Houston) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sima CT-2 Digital Video Enhancer and Duplicator (Electronics) This nifty little device used to be widely available for right around a hundred bucks both online and locally at places like CompUSA, Best Buy, etc. but seems to have almost completely disappeared during the past couple of months.My guess is that the movie studios probably exerted huge legal pressure on Sima, due to the fact that word was getting out to too many people about just how effective this thing really is! Right now you can only find it on eBay (and stock there is diminishing steadily even as I type) and a handful of small independent sellers like the ones listed here on Amazon, unfortunately most of these small sellers are unknown upstarts as well as selling used or refurbed units, so keep your fingers crossed! |
