The cartridge I got was NOT the one in the photo, but I consider this a GOOD thing since the one I received more closely resembles the original Brother cartridge I had than the one in the photo does.
Dropped in and the printer (HL-2140) picked up on it right away, I did not need to turn off the printer, or do anything "funny" to get the printer working again. Opened the front bay, popped it in and it works. I cannot yet comment on the yield (claimed 2,600 pages) since I have printed a grand total of one page thus far. This product would get 5 stars if I could come back and edit this later after meeting or exceeding the stated yield, but since I don't _know_ how many pages this cartridge will run through, I can't give it 5 stars.

This product works perfectly...as I expected.
Unfortunately, I was not talented enough to know that the "drum" was attached to the cartidge unit and called the company to tell them that it seemed to be the wrong product.
The company called me back and explained the situation. I was pleased.
However, I had to go to Best Buy and ask one the Geek Squad people how to seperate the 2 units and he gladly did.
I am now up and running and the cartrige performs just as the Brother cartridge did.

I have the ct-200 model, which has a couple more modes than the ct-2. From what I can tell, the device is not really much use for improving picture quality of old tapes. Rather, it is mostly for getting around copy protection (for personal use only, of course). When I tried it on some tapes that had no copy protection, the result was worse than doing a straight copy. There was an annoying rastorization effect.

Just got it and hooked it up between a portable DVD player and my new DVD recorder. Installation is so simple that instructions are not necessary. This product eliminated the protected content signal on my copy of The Big Lebowski and I expect that I'll be able to back up all of our old Disney movies to DVD with this as well. I don't like that there is no on/off switch on this thing and the switching between modes could certainly be improved. I'd have given a 5 star rating if this thing had a power switch on it.

This nifty little device used to be widely available for right around a hundred bucks both online and locally at places like CompUSA, Best Buy, etc. but seems to have almost completely disappeared during the past couple of months.
My guess is that the movie studios probably exerted huge legal pressure on Sima, due to the fact that word was getting out to too many people about just how effective this thing really is!
Right now you can only find it on eBay (and stock there is diminishing steadily even as I type) and a handful of small independent sellers like the ones listed here on Amazon, unfortunately most of these small sellers are unknown upstarts as well as selling used or refurbed units, so keep your fingers crossed!

This cartridge will disable your printer once it (the cartridge) tells your printer it's empty. The cartridge has a window that is closed (blocked) by toner. This window runs through the cartridge from one side to the other. When the toner is full, the window is blocked, when the toner is seemingly empty, a laser is able to shine through the cartridge one side to the other thus signaling to the printer to shut down for cartridge replacement. I have found that when you obstruct this window with a simple piece of masking tape, you will have at least 33-50% more toner left. I'll leave any manufacturer motive speculation up to you.

I thought these toner cartridges were awful and overpriced. our office was going through these things like Little Debbie Swiss Roll Snack Cakes. That was until I started actually researching toner cartridges. At the current price of this cartridge, the yield is $.01 a page. Compared to the Ricoh business class printers with their toner cartridge yield of $.014, this is cheaper, and the printer is much less expensive.

I was disappointed to find out that the toner cartridge stops working before the toner has run out. However, by obstructive the toner window on the cartridge with masking tape, the remaining print capacity of the cartridge is dramatically extended. I will leave it up to you as to whether you want to implement that solution or not.
I had another issue with toner build up on my drum unit from one of my toner cartridges. The problem was fixed by changing out the toner cartridge.
